What stays local

Your selected PDF is handled in this browser session. BQ PDF Tools does not add your document to the offline cache or upload it to an application server.

What this tool preserves

  • Changes are applied to a new PDF copy.
  • The page preview helps catch placement issues.
  • Warnings explain when signatures or hidden content may be affected.

What to check

Visible additions are not secure redaction or legally binding signatures. Review the result before sharing.

Practical examples

Example 1

Example 2

What this tool does

The tool creates a larger page around each selected original page and places the existing PDF content inside it. Text and vector elements remain PDF content rather than screenshots.

Privacy note: selected files are handled by JavaScript running on your device. The application does not intentionally transfer document contents to a BQ server. Browser extensions, managed-device policies, and the browser itself remain outside the site’s control.

Compatibility note: PDF is a complex format. Very large, encrypted, malformed, digitally signed, or unusually constructed files may not process correctly. Keep the original document until you have checked the result.

Frequently asked questions

Does this crop or shrink the original page?

No. It creates a larger page and places the original content inside the added margins.

Does selectable text remain selectable?

Normally yes. The original page is embedded as PDF content rather than converted to an image.

Can I add margins to selected pages only?

Yes. Leave the page field blank for all pages or enter a page list or range.
